On the side of an old house in rural Wisconsin, centuries-old wood beams form a wall displaying both strength and beauty, with dense, dark grain brought into sharp focus by white plaster. Both abstract and traditional, this monochrome image provides much detail to draw the eye in to antique craftsmanship and richly-weathered wood.

An avid student of photography for most of my life, I carry my camera bag with me both on international trips and for everyday activities. In my work, I am always looking to capture those beautiful and intriguing moments that surround us all the time, but which we so often tend to overlook in the face of everyday temporal pressures. These may be the shape of a leaf or a snail shell, the placement of chairs in a cafe, the unexpected texture of a rock or tree, or the varied colors of a shop or a wharf. On international trips, I seek to capture what makes each place special in an increasingly homogenized world.
