This black-and-white photo shows an empty corridor in the Angkor Wat temple complex in Cambodia. The way forward is obscured and strong light comes in from the open columns on the right. A strong blend of light and shade, as well as horizontal and vertical elements, creates a sense of both peace and mystery. Where does this lead?

An avid student of photography for most of my life, I carry my camera bag with me both on international trips and for everyday activities. In my work, I am always looking to capture those beautiful and intriguing moments that surround us all the time, but which we so often tend to overlook in the face of everyday temporal pressures. These may be the shape of a leaf or a snail shell, the placement of chairs in a cafe, the unexpected texture of a rock or tree, or the varied colors of a shop or a wharf.
