Artist's Description

This is a fountain or birdbath on an estate in the northwestern suburbs of Chicago. It was a very sunny summer day, and I found the contrast between the dry sculpture on the left and the wet sculpture on the right -- so unexpected in two supports for the same fountain -- a charming reflection of the day.

An avid student of photography for most of my life, I carry my camera bag with me both on international trips and for everyday activities. In my work, I am always looking to capture those beautiful and intriguing moments that surround us all the time, but which we so often tend to overlook in the face of everyday temporal pressures. These may be the shape of a leaf or a snail shell, the placement of chairs in a cafe, the unexpected texture of a rock or tree, or the varied colors of a shop or a wharf.
