Artist's Description

Along the coast of northern Michigan (lower peninsula), I shot this through the open window of an abandoned fishing shack. The shack was filled with old bottles, tools made of wood and iron, and ships' ropes, and appeared to have lain untouched for at least forty to fifty years.

An avid student of photography for most of my life, I carry my camera bag with me both on international trips and for everyday activities. In my work, I am always looking to capture those beautiful and intriguing moments that surround us all the time, but which we so often tend to overlook in the face of everyday temporal pressures. These may be the shape of a leaf or a snail shell, the placement of chairs in a cafe, the unexpected texture of a rock or tree, or the varied colors of a shop or a wharf. On international trips, I seek to capture what makes each place special in an increasingly homogenized world.
